Tourism

One of the most important sectors for the Seychelles economy, at the beginning of the 21st century it provided almost one-fourth of the total GDP. Thanks to the beautiful nature of the 115 islands and unique creole culture, Paradisiacal Seychelles is a magnet not only for tourists, but for investors too.

428,000 tourists recorded in 2019 before covid.
In 2020-2021 the number of tourists decreased during the covid pandemic, but for 2022 the arrivals increased significantly. Nearly 217 000 tourists visited the Seychelles, by 31st July 2022.

This sector provides many investment opportunities:

Examples of Investment opportunities in tourism activities: cultural tourism, ecotourism, cruise ship, adventure tourism (scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing) and other leisure activities.

Examples of Investment opportunities in tourism accommodation and entertainment places: hotel development, real estate property development, malls, restaurants, aquarium, coffee shop and bars. 

Fishery

The fisheries Industry, also called the ‘Blue Economy’ is expected to diversify the investments in Seychelles economy.
This sector provides the following investment opportunities:
• Seafood and marine centre,
• Tuna fishing and tuna transhipment,
• Export of canned tuna and frozen fish
• Seafood processing activities, aquaculture, fish farming and ancillary services
• Ship repair
• Sustainable fisheries

Two institutions can offer you financial leverage to see your business thrive:
The Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust (SeyCCATT), through The Blue Grants Fund for projects in sustainable.
The Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS), through The Blue Investment FUND (BIF), only for investments in sustainable fisheries value chains. The BIF can offer up to US$ 3 million (in SCR equivalent) at an affordable 4% interest rate, with to help you scale up your business for a greater impact.
