Seychelles Presidential and National Assembly Elections – First Round Results

The first round of the presidential and legislative elections, held from 25 to 27 September 2025, revealed a highly competitive race between the incumbent, President Wavel Ramkalawan, and  Matthew Herminie.

These elections marked another significant milestone in Seychelles’ democratic process, demonstrating the active engagement of citizens and the continued vibrancy of the nation’s political landscape.

The Electoral Commission has since announced the results of the first round of the presidential vote.

No candidate obtained the absolute majority required to be declared the winner in the first round. Mr. Patrick Herminie, representing the United Seychelles party, received 48.8% of the vote, while the incumbent, President Wavel Ramkalawan of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) party, obtained 46.4%. Because neither candidate crossed the majority threshold, a runoff election will take place to determine the next Head of State.

The date of this rerun election will take place on 11th of October 2025.

The Consulate of Seychelles in Zug welcomes the smooth conduct of the elections and commends the active participation of Seychellois citizens. We will continue to provide updates to the public as soon as further information on the second round becomes available.
