Biennial Honorary Consuls conference

For a few years, after the independence of the country, the General Honorary Consuls and the Honorary Consuls of Seychelles meet every two years in order to dialogue, update their knowledge and nurture new projects. This year, the conference took place from the 24th October to 28th October 2022. The session has been opened by the President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan,a t State House. Jean Pierre Latour, the Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Switzerland, as well as all the 87 Honorary Consuls around the world, attended the HCC (Honorary Consuls conference) in Mahé at Savoy Hotel of Beau-Vallon.

This edition was based on the theme ‘Harnessing Opportunities through Diplomatic Relations’. On Thursday 27th October 2022, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, the MNA (Member of National Assembly) and the District Administrator, the Honorary Consuls also got each the opportunity to visit one of the 26 districts of the three main islands.

The 88 Honorary Consuls of Seychelles around the world had each adopted a district in the country so as to meet the needs of the community. The district of Bel Ombre has been assigned to Jean Pierre Latour.

During this conference, the topics discussed allowed everyone to express a variety of opinions. This is interesting, because it is quite obvious that the vision of things can be different for consuls coming from different countries with different cultures.

The conference ended on October 28, 2022 with a “Moutia Night” evening with a traditional dance show.
