Seychelles Constitution Day, also known as National Day, is celebrated on June 18th, marking the declaration of the referendum in 1993 that made Seychelles a multi-party democracy.

Seychelles Independence Day
Independence Day, also known as Republic Day, is celebrated on June 29th, marking the the day when the country gained its independence from Britain in 1976.
Popular Festivals
- The International Carnival of Victoria: In March or April, the capital of the Seychelles hosts “the carnival of carnivals”. On the program: world music, tastings of Seychellois specialties, processions of floats.
- FetAfrik: In May, Mahé plays host to FetAfrik, which commemorates Africa Day through concerts and live performances.
- Kreol Festival: At the end of October, the most important Seychellois event is held. For five days, festivals and cultural events follow one another to offer visitors a summary of what Creole culture has to offer.
- Subios: In November, Mahé lives on underwater time. Photo and video of the “world of silence” follow one another to raise public awareness of the protection of the seabed.
Music Festivals
- Classical music festival: Listening to Purcel, Bach or Rachmaninoff in the heavenly setting of the islands of La Digue and Mahé is the daring bet of this festival, which is held in May or June and is devoted to classical music and chamber music.
Religious observances
- Assumption Day: August 15th is an important date in the Catholic calendar and a very popular holiday in the Seychelles, which brings together all the faithful around the church of La Digue.
- Vinayagar Chadhurti: In September, this Hindu festival celebrates Vinayagar, the elephant-god better known as Ganesh. From the Hindu temple of Victoria, the effigy of Vinayagar is drawn on a chariot through the streets of the capital.
- Divali or also called Deepvali: The Hindu New Year celebrates Rāmā’s victory over the demon Rāvana. The festivities are held in Mahé.
