The Honorary Consulate of Seychelles in Zug is proud to announce a landmark achievement that opens new opportunities for Kosovo citizens wishing to visit the Seychelles. This milestone reflects the dedicated work of Mr. Jean Pierre Latour,<\/strong> Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Switzerland, and strengthens the diplomatic ties between Seychelles and Kosovo.<\/span><\/p>\n


Diplomatic Engagement and Persistence<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On May 17, 2024, Mr. Latour welcomed Mr. Viga Berisha, Consul of Kosovo in Zurich, for a high-level diplomatic meeting at the Seychelles Consulate in Zug. The meeting focused on facilitating travel for Kosovo nationals, who until recently faced restrictions preventing entry into the Seychelles.
Through multiple discussions with Seychelles authorities and regular updates in his consulate reports, Mr. Latour advocated persistently for a practical solution. He highlighted to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sylvestre Radegonde, that over 245,000 Kosovo nationals live in Switzerland and are fully integrated, emphasizing the importance of enabling them to enjoy holidays in the Seychelles.<\/span><\/p>\n


A Legal Breakthrough<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n


The sustained efforts of Mr. Latour and Minister Radegonde culminated in a historic achievement on 11 August 2025. The Immigration Decree (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 11 of 2025), signed by the President of the Republic of Seychelles and published in the Official Gazette, amended the definition of \u201cpassport\u201d under Section 2 of the Immigration Decree (Cap. 93).<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n


The amendment provides a modernized and inclusive legal framework, recognizing passports and travel documents issued by any sovereign state or by international or regional organizations as specified by the Minister. Valid travel documents must contain the holder\u2019s personal description, country of birth, date of birth, a photograph, and, where applicable, an official visa or endorsement. This legal clarification ensures that Kosovo passports are now officially accepted for entry into the Seychelles.<\/span><\/p>\n


Implications for Travel and Cooperation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n


This milestone opens the doors for Kosovo citizens to visit the Seychelles and enjoy its unique natural beauty. Beyond facilitating tourism, the amendment reflects Seychelles\u2019 commitment to international cooperation, legal clarity, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.<\/span><\/p>\n


The Consul of Kosovo in Zurich, Switzerland, Mr Viga Berisha congratulates Mr. Latour for his tireless dedication and diplomatic acumen, which were crucial in achieving this outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n
